Read 2 Succeed: 5 Strength and Conditioning must reads
It’s often said the more you learn the more you earn.
I’ve always believed that you need to get to the knowledge and apply it to be great. But the first step is actually getting to that knowledge.
If we want to be on the cutting edge we need to understand our subjects to a high level of competency. Looking deeper, the science of Epistemology suggests that initially we get most of our knowledge from our parents and we take it as gospel. As we mature we then get most of that knowledge from authority figures such as teachers, coaches and the people in society around us. Quite often we take that as gospel as well. To give ourselves choices we must expand our knowledge and actually learn from science, from experts in the trenches and from people who have walked the specific pathway we want to walk. Only then will we be able to develop mastery and experience accelerated development.
In the video below I’ve outlined the 5 books that I feel will give you a very strong foundation in strength and conditioning principles, plus some additional texts that almost made the cut. It was very hard to put together a top 5 and to be honest some of the books that I have lent out to people may well have made it if I’d have had them on my bookshelf at the time.
If you want to become a master of strength and conditioning, watch the video below and then read these books.
I’ve got a few more of these videos planned taking you through books that have had a profound influence on me that I think will help you too. Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment or tagging me on social media @brendanchaplin on your favourite platform.
To your strength and success as always,
