How to save £10k per year to invest in yourself and your business

I speak to a lot of people each week. Both coaches and ‘other’ people. One of the things I hear a lot is “I want to invest in marketing/opening a gym, quitting my job etc but I can’t afford it”.

Now I’m no financial advisor, but when I dig a little deeper it’s clear there are savings to be made IF sacrifices are an option.
This newsletter can be succinctly summarized as follows: “Spend a few years like other people won’t to live the rest of your life like other people can’t.”

Investing in yourself is not just a catchy phrase; it’s a fundamental step in achieving personal growth and building a successful business. If you aspire to grow your business, you must first grow yourself. To provide for your family and secure your financial future, leveling up is essential.

If you find yourself struggling to gather the necessary resources to invest in yourself or your business, the first step is conducting a thorough audit of your expenses. There’s a good chance that you can uncover significant savings if you’re willing to make some sacrifices.

The bottom line is this: the responsibility lies with you, and while that might seem daunting, it’s also incredibly empowering because you have the power to take action and make positive changes.

Right let’s jump into the 5 ways you can cut expenses and find the money to invest in your personal and business growth.

Subscriptions:

Don’t be just another subscription junkie. Do you truly need Sky TV, Netflix, Apple TV, and a dozen other services sucking up your cash? It’s time to trim the fat and unveil the cash stash you didn’t think existed. We’re talking about potentially thousands of pounds waiting to be redirected to your aspirations. It’s time to take the bull by the horns!

Savings Revelation: Thousands of pounds saved annually!

Coffee and Grab-and-Go Food:

I spoke to a coach the other day and they were struggling to make ends meet yet admitted 2-3 Starbucks visits per day, for both coffee AND food!

Are you that person who pours more cash into Starbucks than into your savings account? Imagine this: £10-15 a day on coffee and fast bites. That’s your £4,000 yearly treat. But what if you decided to cut back and turn that outflow into an inflow, investing in yourself? It’s not just about saving money; it’s about making your money work for you.

Savings Revelation: A potential £4,000 a year back in your pocket!

Car Loans:

I like a nice car don’t get me wrong, but there’s a reality to address sometimes too isn’t there! In the grand scheme of things, nobody cares about your car as much as you do. Think about downsizing, slashing your costs, and shedding that financial weight. Swap the monthly fear for for a practical, wallet-friendly alternative with lower insurance and monthly bills. That could easily translate to hundreds per month and thousands annually.

Savings Revelation: Potentially saving thousands each year!

Cut Random Unnecessary Spending:

Whether it’s alcohol, cigarettes, takeaways, or other stuff you don’t need, they could be the chains holding you back from financial freedom. An average night out sets you back £50-100, and cigarettes now come with a hefty price tag (I think they are a tenner more more!). I know most of you won’t touch them but you get my point.

Savings Revelation: Potentially hundreds a month freed up!

Stop Buying Stuff:

Just stop! Possessions won’t make a difference. Shift your focus from accumulating things to acquiring substance. Reinvest that money where it counts most: your future.

Savings Revelation: LOTS!

Total Potential Savings: WELL over £10,000 a year!

Listen I’m not saying you have to live some kind of boring regimented life. But you can’t have it all can you. If you want to free up cash to invest in yourself, in marketing, in people you have to make those sacrifices and you’ll be super proud of yourself when you do, and it works!

Over to you: Start your audit, cut the costs, and free yourself up to actually take on the challenges you want to conquer.
